Congratulations to Barb and Eileen for being the 2007 raffle winners of our Stitching in the Valley raffle prizes. Barb took home the wonderful queen size quilt 'Sweet Charity' (pattern available) pieced by Helen Stubbings, embroidered and assembled by the wonderful ladies who attended the charity day and quilted as a donation by Esmes of Launceston. All fabric was donated by Lloyd Curzon Textiles with the backing and batting being donated again by Esmes.

Eileen was the lucky recipient of an Ottlight donated by SSS - Sydney Sewing Supplies. many thanks to all who supported the raffle with funds going towards the Snugglybug project and local charity.

‘The idea of our own small contribution being a part of something much bigger can be quite powerful and rewarding. For a little while we feel better and maybe someone catches that feeling. Stitchin 2005

Well the inaugural Spring Stitch-in is over and what a success it was! 46 ladies plus helpers enjoyed a wonderful day of stitching therapy, eating, laughing, chatting, sharing and growing. And the charity quilt was all but finished. I will put some pics up once it is done. It will then be donated to the Hobart Womens Health Centre who will then raffle it to raise funds for their many worthy projects for local women in the community. Thankyou to all who contributed to make it such a perfect day- exactly as I had planned. Read some comments from participants below:

Hello Helen and helpers

I would like to take the opportunity to express my delight at attending the Stitch-In.

It was simply brillant and I made some new friends as a added bonus.

I cannot imagine the work that went into organising it but I really appreciated it. The venue was great too!

Thanks again and I am already looking forward to next year.

Kindest Regards S

Congratulations to you and Linda, a really good day and obviously everybody enjoyed it.  Your attention to detail is commendable!  Liz

Dear Helen,

Congratulations on a very successful enterprise yesterday. I enjoyed the day and so did many I spoke to. I hope that you are planning to organize something similar next year.

I have a few, I hope, constructive comments.

The lighting was very poor in most of the room. For those of us needing glasses it was still difficult to see properly.
The food was terrific, but perhaps more savoury type food for morning and afternoon tea would be appropriate. I know that I would have preferred bikkies and cheese! [Watching the waistline.]

I think that the charity quilt was an excellent idea. You informed us before hand that this was the main item for the day. No one could get upset about doing it. I hope that you can come up with another great idea next time - hopefully not hexagons.

The musical recitals was a pleasant interlude to the laughter and talking. the massaging was a very welcome pleasure. More next time!

Thank you and your helpers for a great day of friendship.

Cheers

D
